Every association has values and rules that guides them. Christianity is also guided by rules set down by God. The life of a Christian should therefore be different from that of non-Christians as shown in Romans 12 verse 1.
Christians are to present their bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God. That is the reasonable service that Christians can render to God (Romans 12:1). God has set a standard and Christians must live up to it. They are not to conform to the lifestyle of those in the world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind to be able to prove that good and acceptable as well as perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). Christians are not to associate themselves with the wickedness of this world. They are to separate themselves and be holy unto God. There is a day coming that there will be Rapture of the saints. How are you preparing yourself for the rapture? Is your life different as a Christian from that of non-Christians? The life of a Christian requires him to sanctify himself from time to time.
Joshua told the people to consecrate themselves because God was going to do amazing things among them the next day (Joshua 3:5). Christians must sanctify themselves to be able to see miracles happen in their lives. Miracles of God will not come when your body is conformed to the lifestyle of this world. Sanctification makes the difference between Christian and a non-Christian. Each Christian must work his salvation with fear and trembling (Philippian 2:12-16). Living up to the statutes of God depends on your Godliness or ungodliness.
The books of Psalms in the bible begin with Godliness and ungodliness. Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water; that brings forth its fruit in season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are like chaff which the wind drives away. The ungodly and sinners shall not stand in the judgement and congregation of the righteous. The Lord knows the way of the righteous but the ungodly shall perish (Psalm 1:1-6). Ungodly attitude of people in church show in the type of counsel they give to others against the will of God. They destroy others with the words they speak. On the other hand, Godliness should not be only in the Church. In other words, do not be only Sunday Christians. The man that does not sit in the seat of mockers is blessed. The Godly man meditates on the law of the Lord day and night. Meditation is an act of staying calm and quiet to ponder about the word of God. Let not the Law of the Lord depart from your mouth but meditate on it day and night so that you will prosper and have good success (Joshua 1:8). Deuteronomy 28 gives us a list of blessings that will come on His people if they obey and keep to His laws and statutes. If you separate yourself and walk in the statutes of the Lord you shall be blessed. You shall do little and God will multiply it to yield so much. Remain obedient to God, and meditate on His word day and night.
