Rev. John Owusu Agyeman. Head pastor.

Every Christian needs divine power from heaven to sustain him. The body of Christians is the temple of God and His spirit dwells in them. If any person destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person (1Corinthians 3: 16). It is time for the power of God to return into our present-day churches.

The call to ministry is to win souls. A pastor who is thinking of winning people to himself and having a large congregation are building humanly churches. Pastors who have the power of God preach the gospel and multitudes give their lives to Christ. Unfortunately, present time church goers are only looking for signs and wonders and play into the hands of false prophets. It is time to wake up and look up to God as our source of power.

In Matthew 28:18-20 our lord Jesus said to his disciples: “All authority in heaven and on earth is given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” In other words, Jesus gave them the power to go and preach the gospel to all people. Today, the church is not preaching the gospel but preaching about ourselves and our achievements. Let it be known that holiness is not about preaching in tongues, but it is about character and obedience to God. Think of having the power of God in you before you think of speaking in tongues.

On the day of Pentecost, the disciples got power from above in the form of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2: 1-6). “While they were all gathered in one place a sound like a violent wind from heaven filled the room. They saw what seemed like tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit led them”. A crowd of people from different nationalities heard them and came to listen to them. Each one heard what they were saying in his own language. That is what the power of God can do in your life. Peter preached that day to the multitude and because of the power of God in him, three thousand souls were won for Christ. Can present day churches boast of winning a thousand souls for Jesus in one preaching session?  Let us pray for this same power of God to return to our churches again.

Peter healed the lame man who asked for alms at gate Beautiful of the temple in the name of Jesus. Ananias and Sapphira tried to lie against the Holy Spirit but due to the power of God in Peter, he was able to discern that they were lying (Act 5:1-10). The power of God gave Peter boldness to say to the Sanhedrin that they will obey God rather than man (Acts 5:29). I pray that each and everyone of us will get this power of God to dwell in us. God bless you.
