Proverbs 18:21 tells us that: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit”. Job suffered a lot but he declared life and that changed his situation. It does not matter the circumstances you find yourself. You have a choice to decree life or death. Whichever you choose, you will have its fruits. Do you want to eat the fruit of life or fruit of death? That depends on the power of your tongue!
From the beginning of this year 2019, we have learnt that our later glory shall be greater than the former. We have made sacrifices of first fruit to God and prayed throughout the first month January. We have also had Sunday service with our Lord and presented covenant seed for ourselves and our children. It is therefore not a coincidence that the first Sunday service of February is dedicated for Praise and Worship to our Lord and maker. By this we will be decreeing our destiny with the power of our tongue. Few days before Jews go to war, they gather together and offer sacrifices to God. They then decree with their tongue what they want God to do for them in the war against their enemies. We as God’s people have prayed, sacrificed and covenanted with God for protection, good health, deliverance and so many other things. We can now say to God: remember our covenant that we made with you. God will then speak according to the declarations we made to Him. The declarations in Psalm 20, is a guide for us.
In verse 1-3 of Psalm 20, the Psalmist requests that the Lord answers us when in distress and may the name of God protect us and send us help from His Sanctuary. Apart from granting us support from Zion, He will remember our sacrifices and accept our burnt offerings. In verse 4-6, the Lord will give you all the desires of your heart and make your plans to succeed. As we shout for joy and rejoice over our victory, by showing that it is the Lord who has done it, He will grant us all our requests. From verse 7-9 we know that God gives victory to His anointed. Those who put their trust in chariots or horses are brought down on their knees but those who trust in the name of the Lord stand firm and victorious.
May we always declare life and enjoy its fruits.
